Organised in cooperation with the Special Committee on the Housing Crisis (HOUS), the meeting addressed the escalating housing crisis across Europe and explore policy solutions at both the EU and Member State levels. Discussions focused on the social and economic impacts of rising housing costs, mass tourism, and short-term rentals, which have limited access to affordable housing and affected employment and social welfare. The event brought together representatives from the European Parliament, national parliaments, EU institutions, and key NGOs to assess these challenges and align efforts with the European Affordable Housing Plan. Participants also exchanged successful strategies and best practices to identify effective, adaptable housing policies across the EU.

The Commission's proposal focuses on combatting regular employment relationships disguised as traineeships and to improve genuine trainee´s working conditions.

In her draft report the EMPL rapporteur aims to strengthen the Commission proposal by broadening its scope and by introducing a clear definition of traineeships. Deadline of amendments to the draft report is 25 March 2025 at noon.
