The Cascina Roccafranca (Daily Home) is a social and cultural centre in the northwestern Italian city of Turin, designed to encourage local residents to become active and engaged citizens interested in their community.  It was meant to be a place where local residents can test new forms of grass-roots participation, exercise their civic rights, and exchange ideas with people of different ages, ethnic origins and cultural backgrounds. The Cascina Roccafranca opened in 2007, in a renovated 2 500-square metre building surrounded by 2 000 square metres of courtyard used for summer festivals. By opening its doors to everyone in the community, the centre seeks to promote a better understanding of different peoples and cultures, as well as relationships with local foreign communities.
